Morning all. Today I celebrate the first day of week 2, but it's a hollow victory.
Yesterday i got told I'm no longer needed at work after friday. It wasn't really a shock, it's been pretty quiet here since New Year's, but it was unexpected. It didn't really sink in until I got home yesterday, and then the 'Just The One' thoughts started. You think to yourself that having a cigarette will make you feel better, that it will comfort you. Not likely. I've been good so far in suppressing those thoughts with 'what's the point?' (as in what's the point in smoking, it achieves nothing). And safe to say I've not cracked. But I do feel like sh!t.
I WILL NOT BREAK.

Well done for not giving in... I can imagine how you were feeling... as you said it would only make you feel worse. So sorry about your job hope you find something else soon. You have done great getting this far, keep up the good work!

But hard lines with the job things are getting bad my OH have had no work since before chrismas and my son who is a machanic with honda is hanging on by the skin of his teeth. But like you said having a fag dose nothing You keep strong my friend you will feel better for it. Onwards to week two.xxxxxxxxxxx
That's rough mate, what do you do? Hope something comes along to keep you going meanwhile. As you rightly said smoking won't help in any way at all except to lighten your pocket..
I hope you are feeling better and more up beat today! Sorry about your job that sucks but smoking wont help, you have to remember that!
Anyway hope your Ok because you've been finding it so easy so far and it has been getting me through in my dark times thinking that if everyone else can do it so can I!
sorry to hear your news mate, keep positive with everything and it will come good, you've proved yourself to be a motivated person with your quit and any potential employers will be looking for someone with self motivation and you've got tons of it.
Woe, sorry to here that mate! It seams no one is safe from the crunch at the moment. Glad to see your still on the wagon tho. Chin up mate, stick with the quit - although under the given circumstances I can totally understand the way you may feel!
Sorry to hear your news. I'm in a similar position just waiting for the axe to fall. This bloody economic climate really is affecting so many people but we all know smoking ain't going to make a blind bit of difference. Keep going and keep posting.
just a quick post for moral support-im so sorry to hear you have lost your job_a bigger reason to remain a non smoker-costly little buggers those fags!
Thanks a million guys, strange as it may sound, your collective sympathy makes me feel better. And yeah I'm still on the wagon; even if the wagon drove off a cliff in flames into a pool of leperous alligators and ill-tempered mutated sea bass, you'd still see me clinging onto a wheel screaming defiantly "I ain't gettin' off!".
Starting to feel the physical symptoms more and more each day though, I'm still fidgety and restless, not getting a great amount of sleep (as well as waking up randomly throughout the night), having massive sudden bouts of detachment and anxiety, feeling pretty run down in general. But no real desire to smoke, a few odd severe cravings here and there. I have all my crave-busters (water, gum, this forum) and the right attitude coupled with prepatory knowledge, so I'm not worried about it
Again, thanks a million for the support, you guys are The Man!

ROFL - I like that, a lot!
I'm not surprised you are feeling it after losing your job... (good luck with that by the way)...
Just remember that a smoke cannot and will not help any situation. The situation remains the same, but you just smoked.
Stay strong and keep reading, the feelings will go away it you stay strong. You are also in the second half of the "normal" timeframe for physical withdrawal so they may well be at their strongest now.
They will ease up. Honestly.
Very well done for your progress so far, just hang in there and it gets so much easier.
