Hi
It's been ages since I've been on this site but just thought I'd give some encouraging words to you all.
I tried to give up in March this year and was successful for about 6 weeks before I stumbled and gave in. I was on this site a lot and it was really encouraging.
Finally a month ago I went and had hypnosis and haven't regretted it since. I've saved £175 or so and bought a top notch record deck so I can finally listen to my vinyl collection. Also, as an asthmatic, I've really noticed my breathing is easier. I'd love to say I never think of having a cigarette but obviously I do. The thought comes and goes quickly though. It's more like I think about a cigarette but not actually having one.
The one thing, and you're not going to like this, that really helps is not focusing on smoking at all. Patches just remind me I used to smoke. Even this message board may make you think about smoking.
Anyway, I'd recommend hypnotherapy but you do need to use some willpower as well. And you'll need that willpower for years to come. It does get easier with time though.
