Ok so day three for me is an hour away, but im busy all day tomorrow so wont be able to post any news and i have no intention of smoking a (real)cigarette. I would like to say thank you for all the support- just because i havent replied to you indvidually believe me i have read every thread, post etc and the messages of well done etc have helped me enourmosly. I guess this what AA is like - 'Hi Im Steve and im a smokeaholik' - im not taking the mick by the way . It is the first time i have ever joined a forum and it has really really helped. Thanks a million.
I have started a group for October Quitters and so far i am the only member. I just seem to know its for keeps this time, so if you want a quit buddy join up.
Throughout Day 2 - For the first time ever, it never crossed my mind to go and buy some and i never noticed anyone else smoking ( i did before) .
One day at a time but im already looking forward to moving on from the day 3 group.
Have a Great Weekend and Thanks again..
Steve

I'm glad you are finding this place a help. I have found it to be a tremendous help.
It is unusual that you aren't noticing people smoke its normally the other way round, once you quit you notice smokers every where! I think you can take that as a good sign!
Hang on in there and before you know it you'll be at a week, then a month then ....
I have never ever felt this positive before. I just seem to know its the right time. Dont get me wrong its tough (as anyone reading will know) but with the right NRT and a bit of help from people like you... . . . .
(one day soon maybe ill stop talking about myself and my problems and start helping others - that will be the day ive cracked it maybe.....) but one thing i do know is that i really do hate smoking ...

There is something about a good support group that really, really makes the task more achievable.

It is never too soon to start replying to other peoples threads with support any things that you have discovered. Not only will the person appreciate it as you have, but it will also help you to picture yourself as a non smoker helping others to quit. (well it does me anyway)
Just noticed this thread and thought I'd post a few words of encouragement.
11 months ago I had just quit and I knew I would never smoke again. However the early days were not easy and time seemed to stand still. I found this place and my first ever words on it were "My name is Mark and Im a nicotine addict"
Things have got so so much easier, I "hate" myself now for smoking for so long. What a fool I/we was/were.
The best piece of advice I can give is to educate yourself. Read, read and then read some more. Understand what nicotine addiction is and learn how to beat it.
