Hi guys.

12 hours into my quit and things seem to be going well. However, I jst had a weak time, - i didnt smoke anything - got a nicorette instead, but I'm trying to do an essay and it's getting me down.

I know 12 hours aint much, but it certainly is a start and im proud of myself.

Phil,

You must remember that it is normal to feel a bit stressed, twitchy, quick tempered etc when quitting. Just accept the fact and get on with whatever you are doing.

Try to either ignoring the cravings or relish them as an integral part of the quit, dwelling on them and stressing about them will just make them worse.

Hang on in there.

Nic

Cheers Nic, that's made me feel better - I'm just thinking that I will have a bar of chocolate for getting through day 1.

Thanks again m8 :)

Hi Philip

Congrats on firstly making the choice to stop smoking !! this was one of the hardest parts for me, the actual saying goodbye to what had become a daily ritual for me.

what you going through just now is withdrawal from nicotine, nothing more ! You should try and find some kind of replacement .

Im still very early into my quit but i used tangerines and water for the first few days ...everytime i felt like a cig i would have a tangerine instead...then drink some water. This wasnt quenching my need , it was just a distraction from the craving i was getting.

You have to just keep moving forward in your quit Philip , as hard as that may seem just now it will get easier and easier .....

here is a link to what u may think and to what is actually happening

whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Nicod...

take time out to read this and bear it mind when u get these thoughts into your head.....remember these are all in your head - stay strong and just get by today...you can tackle tomorrow when it comes but your goal is not to smoke today!!

Good luck and keep posting if you have any urges

Hey Phillip, it's very inspiring when reading on the forums about courageous persons like you who have the guts to overcome their own weakness (and remember if you can control yourself you can master everything in this life) because of their family.

What you do, my friend, is a noble thing. I admire you for that and hope this message or post gives one just a little bit more tiny dose of motivation for you to continue.

Best of luck, never give up!
