Hi Mandi and welcome to the forum,
Ok some persuasion,
1) Smoking is putting poisons into the body, and while we do that every day breathing in pollution from cars etc the difference is that with smoking we are choosing to poison ourselves. Why would you want to do that?
2) When you have been smoking to stink, nothing personal its true for all smokers.
3) Even at 15 a week is more than a tenner gone up in smoke each week.
4) AFAIK there is no safe quantity to smoke and most people end up smoking more and more over time.
5) You don't really want to start again or you wouldn't be here!
If you don't need to do it why would you want to do it.
Hope that helps
Nic

Good morning Nic,
Thank you for that, I realy need encouragement. I have this little imp on my shoulder telling me that so few doesn't hurt... one wont make a difference....I can always stop again etc etc
My mind tells me that that is wrong...but 'Mr Will Power' needs a severe talking to!
Hopefully this forum will help. Thank you again..Mandi

I don't think that you need much encouragement, you have sought out this forum because you don't want to get started again.
Now you need to ignore the imp and get on with living a smoke free life, you already know it makes sense.
All the best
Nic
You sound like you already know what you want to do.
There is no such thing as an "occasional" or "social" smoker.
There are people who smoke, and people who don't. The only way to be free of nicotine and free from the risk of illness that smoking brings is not to smoke.
Then theres the damage to your appearance... yellow and damaged teeth/gums, bad skin, bad hair, and a general unhealthy look... not to mention the smell.
You know smoking ages you, but it can even damage the strength of your teeth and bones!!!
I bet you notice the difference in yourself already after 15 days without smoking - the body recovers quickly, but smoke again and all it's hard work is for nothing.
Do the right thing, and just stop smoking - you're already 2 weeks in, and have a fantastic head start!
oh mi gosh..I was just having a really tough time then trying to convince myself not to go out and buy 10 ciggies, so I thought that I would just check the forum............thank so you very much, you personally have enabled me to go another day....be proud - I'm grateful.....
just keep on watching for people like me that need you.xxxx

hello Nic, Steward, and Linda and all that have tried to help
I have had a real struggle not to go out and buy some ciggies today, we have had a few friends round for cocktails, and I went out to the shop..but turned back, I still can't believe I turned back!
I still have the attitude that because I smoke so little, that I don't have such a problem.....Believe me..I think it is harder because I possibly feel I'am not at much at risk or that is what i try and convince myself to feel. anyway I am feeling it very tough at the moment.
Thank you Mandi
But thats what we are here for when we give support we are also helping ourselfs. You will be doing the same soon well done for staying strong. xxxxxx
You don't need to thank us, we do this because it helps us... yep, we are selfish
Helping others quit, helps us quit. It re-enforces the positive attitude you need to successfully quit smoking for us.
You sound pretty determined, so may I suggest some reading material to try and get your head in the right place to quit.
If you can get hold of a copy of "the easy way to quit smoking" by Allen Carr, thats well worth a read.
Also have a look at whyquit.com , woofmang.com , and quitsmokingonline.com
Those 3 sites have some really good stuff on there.
Good luck
