As I sat outside in the sunshine on the 17th July smoking my last ever cigarette I was determined that this time I would succeed. I had the previous day had a moment of clarity in which I decided that I no longer wanted to be a smoker, and that instead of just saying I must give up, I was going to damn well do it.
O.k. so I've been there before, starting off full of conviction, but this time I used this place and it is so true to say that a support group is a great help, along with the educations thing too.
Not that I (or anyone else) has done much - but you're welcome. You're the one that's done it.
Congratulations.
Actually everyone just being around is a help. I have a rapidly increasing post count, not because I'm Mr Helpful (well not just :p) but because it reinforces the way I see myself i.e. a former smoker if I reply to others posts.
This is my true quit.
It will not fail, I will not fail.
Just a quick note about my new chosen title,
Many will understand but its from the film 300,
Imaging us quitters as the Spartans and Nicotine addiction, cigarettes etc as the Persians.
Now picture yourself as King Leonardis (the guy with the beard) and the Persian messengers are nicodemons.
The 300 Spartans died at the battle of Thermopylae, but their courage inspired fellow Greeks, the following year the Greeks did win battles they fought against the Persians.
I am really sorry I missed this thread. I would like to give you my best wishes. One thing i would like to say if you had stuck around in 06 We would of lost out on a great quit buddy. xxxxxx CONGRATS MATE. Linda

I'd love to say that it is totally selfless but it seriously helps me to view myself as a non smoker, just but offering what support and encouragement I can.
