Day 5.... seriously, I made it this far?

Thanks to everyone in the forum so far who has offered their support and reading material (all of which has been very good to read, thanks so much). One of my motivations for quitting smoking now if to be able to support others in their own attempts to quit smoking. Of course, I was only smoking for one year before I quit, I'm sure the attachment is much stronger after ten or twenty!

I had a really long-lasting and intense craving today from 10am-3pm. I could almost feel it physically it was so bad. But, after repeated rational thinking and sucking on a pack of hard candies, it passed. Important today, I noticed how nice I've been feeling physically since I stopped smoking. My voice has already cleared up a little bit and I can definitely take deeper and more satisfying breaths. It's a plain and simple fact that it's not worth it on any level to continue smoking. Quit, and quit now.

Well done.

Seriously though, think yourself lucky you came to your senses after a year - imagine how it feels to release your body from smoking after 22years (me) or even longer for some others.

Well done again, the first few days are easily the most difficult.

Great words mate ...ill use it in my head when needed.

Your doing great ...im around same timeframe as yourself. Today has been hard but i think thats why i joined this forum . Support does help ..and its best when its from people all going through the same as yourself.

Hang in there Chilli

Some days are tough but they pass and become fewer and fewer as time goes on.

I'm sure you've heard this loads of times but it really does get easier. I'll keep saying it because it's true.

These craves get smaller and smaller all the time and in a few days you will stop thinking about smoking and do something less boring instead!
