Today is the 12th of October - at 10pm tonight I will have been quit for exactly 1 calendar month. Tomorrow is the 13th and the official start of the 2nd month.
My next "time milestone" post will be in the "month 2" forum - wow!
Obviously, I am very pleased with myself - and very thankful for the support I have had. My fiancee is very proud and has been great through it, work... well, some good and some bad. The people on here have been a lifeline, being able to talk to you all and get information from here and places linked to from here during the day at work has helped hugely - So thanks, guys... It would have been a lot harder without you all.
Looking back over the last month's worth of entries in my quit diary... there have been some rough moments, but to be honest - not many. Mostly it has been relatively easy. The things I have gained... and it is an amazing thought that in just a month you could gain so much.
£120 I haven't spent on smoking.
Nearly 98 hours I haven't spent smoking (at 10 minutes each for 587 cigarettes up to this point). Work it out (587x10)/60... amazing!
Better circulation, breathing, appearance, energy, stamina, generally feeling loads better.
Better mental attitude - I am far more cheerful and determined about most things... lets face it, If I can give up smoking (and move house 2 weeks in) I can do anything!!!
Enough of me rambling now... heres to month 2 - I go into it more positive than ever, but all the time knowing that I am a nicotine addict and to get through each day I must do just one simple thing - not smoke!

Well done Stuart it is a great feeling to get the 1st month finished.
You are right to be on your guard, and keep the mantra not one puff ever with you always.
Use the memory of those rough moments to re-enforce to yourself that what you have done is not only a great achievement but also something that you don't want to have to go through again.
You do seem to have things well in perspective, though. So keep up the good work and I'll save a space for you in the penthouse when I get there!
Thanks guys and girls - as always, appreciate the comments.
To everyone further along the road than me (or those that have been there and slipped)... thanks for looking back and encouraging me forwards... It really is a huge help to look ahead and see what's to come.
For those of you a little behind me on the road - look at how far I have come since my first posts on here, and look past me to those further along. You see - it is great up there. I aim to get there too, one step at a time... I hope that I can help any of you that need it, even in a very small way.
Well done Stuart, for your own quit and the work you do on here to help others
Keep it up
I don't work to help others, mate - I do what little I can because I want to.
Firstly, I like to help people - there's plenty that are helping me along, it great to be able to return the favour.
Secondly, typing out messages to other people who need help or support - or even just words of congratulation helps ME with my quit. It helps me keep my mind in order. So it's just selfishness really
Well done on reaching your 1st month as a non-smoker and good luck for the next milestone! Keep up the positive mental attitude and supporting others makes you think about your own reasons for quitting and reinforce why you never want to smoke again!
I bet that the urges to smoke are also a LOT less than they were, even just a couple of weeks ago.
Stay strong Stuart you are doing great!!!
I think I can honestly say I've not had more than an occasional fleeting thought in the last week... certainly not anything that I would class as an "urge".
