Hey, well done to all of you for starting day 1. I have just failed and got to day 7 and lapsed last nite so I have dragged my weiry butt back here. This time I am determined to get past my weak point and do it!!! I am trying to stay positive. I am back on 21mg and will continue those for the week, then look to go to 14mg. Don't be fooled ever that a fag will taste nice after a week, it was foul. My problem was that I had a good drink which did really not help me, so I think I am going to stay of the beer aswell.
Here we go again!!: Hey, well done to all of... - No Smoking Day
Here we go again!!
Good idea to stay off the demon drink for a wee while methinks!
Don't feel to bad, it is just a wee glitch in your plan. Take a deep breath and start again - you know you can do this!
Good luck and have a nice day
Okey dokey Beau, no buggering about this time OK!!
I must admit I started off doing a month with no fags and no booze just to see if I could, don't know which was the hardest to be honest.
Lots of swimming has helped.
After a month seemed a shame to go back on the fags so stayed quitted (!).
Back on the booze now though.
Keep at it folks.
You can do it, good job coming right back here!
Okay Beau
Now ya know what ya downfall was, but now your back on track. We're all here for ya
Keep smiling!
Now is the time
Hi all,
I started smoking at the tender age of 15, I am 60 in 2 days time and have promised myself to give up the filthy habit and be healthy for the rest of my days. Will power permitting.
you're not the first and won;t be the last. I hope I can do it in one fell swoop, thanks for reminding us taking up smoking again even after a week is not satisfying.
I think staying off the booze is going to be very important for me.
I have thrown all my lighters, cigarettes, paapers, tobaccco, filters in the bin so i have no access to cigarettes. I may have a drink on friday night to test the waters - not much though.

Hey gerry, welcome to the madhouse.
I suppose you're hoping to be all the proof anyone will need that it's never to late to stop, and that "you're never too old to learn new tricks".
Good luck with the stopping and may the process to freedom from the evil weed be an easy one!
I smoked my last cigarette 1 Week, 4 hours and 29 minutes ago. I have saved £65.53 by not smoking 287 cigarettes. I have saved 23 hours and 55 minutes of my life.

Hi Casey - Did you originally start quitting on the 21 mg patches or 14 mg patches. If you can't face going CT then I would suggest the 21 mg patches if you want to go down this way of quitting. I started on the 21 Jan and slipped on the 27th but restarted on the 28th. I came off the 21 mg and went on to 15 mg three weeks ago. When I went to the nurse on Monday I asked to be put on the 10 mg patches. I also use an inhaler when the patch was changed to a lower dose to help with the craving stages and found after a while I wasn't using it as much. Shouting, screaming and (dare I say it:rolleyes swearing also helps when the craving starts.
There is also a gel called Nicogel you can use by rubbing into your hands and it lasts for hours. I used some yesterday and found it helped a lot.
Hope this helps.
PS - sorry I forgot to welcome you to the forum

Hi Beau - good luck on your re-start. Knowing your weak point will help you get past the 7 days and we are always here to help as I am sure you know.
