Hello everyone. As you know i started taking champix yesterday. I am feeling ok apart from a banging headache.
Just wondered if you could tell me how you felt when you started the Champix and what it felt like when you started your quit day.
I only smoked a couple yesterday i think this is because i have been on patches for a month so the habit isnt there anymore. Smoking really seems to burn my tongue.
Anyway just wanted to hear your experiences. How you felt when the Champix kicked in and did you really not think about smoking.

I was lucky with no side effects at all - except for really vivid dreams (but they are a really good side effect!).
As for my quit day (day 11 on Champix), well I woke up feeling great - knowing that I had smoked my last fag. Made my usual morning coffee then panicked like mad found a fag and smoked it
I told myself it was no good and that I would never be able to give up smoking. I smoked for the rest of that day (although about half what I normally get through).
The morning after my intended quit day something just clicked in and that was over 9 days ago - not had a fag since.
I dont know if I am waiting for a miracle to happen I have read so many success stories on here but on the internet it says 4 out of 10 quit once they finished course.
I started my quit on the first day of using Chantix ...I was at first terrified of using it but it has been great so far. I am very tired during the day, but nothing else. I did have upset stomach for the first few days but that is mainly because I did not eat when taking it. I am on day 10 now and am taking half the recommended dose because it works for me. I think you will be fine, the first few days your body is just getting used to it..if you feel you need to adjust your dose, call your doctor first. Good to see you here!!

xxxxHi Flippy, i'm so glad that you have decided to give Champix a try. They are NOT a miracle tablet, but my goodness, they don't half help to beat the cravings. I think that this time Flippy, you will do it. Like you, l cut down drastically ( 3 a day in my case ) before my quit day. I did NOT ATTEMPT to quit for 14 days, to give myself the very best chance. I suppose in a way, that l was frightened of how it was going to be, on that first non -smoking day:eek: It was NOT NEARLY AS BAD as l thought it would be. On day 13, l cut down to 1 tablet a day, and that's been fine. You will still have to be determined Flippy, but somehow, this time, l KNOW THAT YOU WILL SUCCEED
HI flippy. When I first started on champix I had a thumping headache but took some pain killers and it soon went .Feel sick for about 15 mins after taking it but if you drink lots of water that really helps.I didnt think they were working when I first started taking them but decided quit day was day 8.Yessssssssss they were working and it was great:D.You still need to really want to stop but they are a great help:)Day 3 was hard and the first Sunday:eek:but it does really get easier after that Im now on day 16 of not smoking YEAH.On the down side if there has to be one is I get really tired because the champix makes me keep waking up all the time.Felt like death yesterday and peoplr kept asking if I was ill, came on here and had a good moan and got some good advise.Always come on here if you need help or advise they are brill.Hope this help and good luck wit3h your quit. Chrissie xx
