Hi, I am planning on quitting at New Year and planning on staying stopped! Has anyone tried the stop smoking services that the NHS run - are they any good? What happens?
Groups: Hi, I am planning on quitting at New... - No Smoking Day
Groups
My mate went to one - they gave him NRT and he went back every week for a while and the whole group of them quit together. I think that helped him - bit of support and that. It's worked for him - still off the cigs 6 months later

I run groups in my area and one thing I have to say is that they are good fun. Its amazing but we do all have a laugh!
Sounds interesting - worth a try? Is there one near me in N Yorks. How do I find it?
Groups
We have run several successful groups in our area. I think you need to be outgoing and then you will benefit from the support of the group as you will all be around the same quit time and having similar experiences, but you will all deal with them differently
you can find local NHS stop smoking groups if you ring the helpline 0800 1690 169, I rang them once but then I didn't go to the group. but if I ever have to give up again maybe I will ha ha!

Hi guys,
despite what you all said i ended up going on will power alone and failed (hence why i haven't been back on here!!) determined this time though and have spoken to my local service. am going to go along next month - with their help i will do it! still got the will power but need something else too!!
Hi Annie,
none of my family smoke either. All they say is "just get yourself some sugarfree gum,it's easy!" How would they know?
It's not easy, well not for me anyway. Going to hang in there though.
