Maintenance treatment

Has anyone been in remission after 4 treatmentso and then did maintenance for 2 years every 2 months? Did the maintenance work?

I did chemo in 2010 and then maintenance for 2 years had a CT scan done in March and there were no signs of my NHL and I am doing great.

I had 4 Chemo treatments and 2 years of maintenance. I have been in remission 7 years! I also had 18 radiation treatments. I was unable to complete the maintenance due to contacting pneumonia after each treatment. No one knew for sure how long my remission would actually last, but so far so good. I do have some health issues from the treatments, but I am in Remission and that is all that counts! The other health issues are to be expected since I am getting older and my body has been through a lot with the treatments. It is worth all the Dr. visits so I can enjoy living again. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and I am so blessed to be able to still be here living life to its fullest.

After my first 6 rounds of CVP+R I did 2 two years of maintenance R for Follicular B cell NHL. My remission was about 2 years after the maintenance, but everyone is different. Some people are in remission much longer, and some less.

I have mantle cell lymphoma. My chemo was less than a year and then had follow up once a month with rituxan for two years. Still in remission. Five years since dx. So I'd say it worked for me!

Hi Janet, my husband also has Mantle Cell. He was diagnosed 2011. Had R-chop 2012 and then 2013 did a stem cell transplant. Remission lasted 3 years. Now is doing Rituximab and Bendamustine. We were wondering what kind of chemo you had. Today is Gary's last chemo and we are hoping for a long remission. I think they will do a maintenance program. Sincerely Paige Harding

I had the same thing your husband is getting plus 2 years rituxan follow up. Best wishes. I recently "met" on another website who is a 20 year survivor of mcl who has been treated several times. That was encouraging. I haven't had a stem cell transplant yet. Was that really hard?

Hi Jane, The stem cell went pretty well but they had told us that Gary would probably see 8 to 10 years remission and he only got 3. We wonder if he fell out of remission because he came down with shingles last October 2015. It got into his sciatic nerve and he was in so much pain. I'm sure this weakened his immune system. Now we are hoping that he gets a good remission with this treatment. It was discouraging today because he was suppose to get his last two treatments of Bendamustine but his wbc was to low so they have postponed his treatment until Monday. Giving him neupogen shots everyday through Sunday to raise the white blood cells.

Thank you for your reply. We are sitting at the doctors now and we're hoping to get Gary's last chemo but his WBC is to low so they will start with upogen shots. Please keep in touch. Paige

I just finished 2 years of maintenance retuxin in June. So far so good!
