craps: hi guys new to forum having server... - Kidney Transplant
craps
Please check your magnesium level. It may be low. Sometimes this can be the reason but please reach out to your transplant team. They would advise you correctly on this🙏
I am level 4 kidney patient with a transplant in my future and I have those cramps several times per week. Mostly when writing or gripping something
Is there relief?
Unfortunately as the disease progresses cramps become more frequent and more severe. At least that happened to me. Talk to your nephrologist to see if they can advise you on something that can help you. I can’t remember what my nephrologist suggested before I started dialysis but dialysis helps with cramps but if you’re not compliant with water intake, cramps are an issue as well. Cramps are still an issue after transplant for me and it is mostly due to low levels of magnesium as SN23 mentioned. I wouldn’t suggest taking magnesium without consulting with your nephrologist first however because you’re in that critical stage now you don’t want to jeopardize your remaining renal function.
thank you. Much appreciated
Chipmunk: I thought you were going to tell us some type of great story about CRAPS!
When I experienced on and off cramps in my thighs and feet while on peritoneal dialysis, I bought the product called Theraworx. It comes in several forms: cream, spray, foam, etc.
I bought the bottle that dispenses as foam (like hair mousse) of the stuff. It WORKED wonders. The cramps in my feet and legs went away in seconds!
You can get it at Amazon, Walgreens, etc. It lasts a long time. This is pic of 7.1 fl oz.
