Dear All,

Let me make this 'Quite Clear'.... I did NOT just get my Towels In, having left then OUT all day, because I had FORGOTTEN them..... Oh NO, they were Not DRY yet.... you understand.... NOTHING about having a Brain like a Sieve...... Oh My DAYS, I'm Getting WORSE, I'm Sure of it!

Seriously though Am I the Only 'one' to do this? surely not.....

I know what you mean. I have forgotten a lot of things. I also no longer enjoy reading which in the past I read every night. It feels like my personality changed when I started hemodialysis. It would be very easy to give up and just stop but I need to continue hemodialysis until I get a new kidney. If I don't get a kidney I want to try PT instead.

Honestly I feel alike since I found out my disease. I can’t focus so I can read, I feel tired very frequently (I don’t if I am tired or if I think I am tired because of my disease), I can’t enjoy a bite, or a drink.

I still can’t find things I put away before my transplant surgery. I call it “kidney brain”.

It isn't often talked about, but transplant meds are essentially chemo meds and many have "chemo brain" which is a well known side effect. It is often not serious in transplant patients because the doses are low, but it is more common than we realize.

Oh yes, the first few years were horrible. I experienced neurotoxicity from the tacrolimus (Prograf). Memory loss, fuzzy brain, and weird emotional breakdowns. I thought I was losing my mind. Starting a PhD program 3 years after my transplant definitely did not help!
