As many transplant patients who are now on drugs that affect your immunity, I find myself trying to isolate but keep healthy mentally and physically because they go hand in hand. Since in the winter months I can not safely go to a gym or hike outside ( had one fall already) I decided to purchase a treadmill and some weights. My kitchen became a mini gym. The plan went well until I decided to buy a treadmill matt from Amazon. As I pulled the matt out of the box, I noticed a strong smell and also noticed a warning description on the info. Inside designating that this product was made from highly cancerous material - a comment mandated by the state of California. The product was manufactured by a company who imports many of its exercise products from China to offer discount items in the US. I am in the process of sending the item back to amazon and wishing I had never ordered it. But how was I to know? Even the original company had info. On their website, but amazon never passed that along to the consumer. While i take extra precautions due to covid, I never thought another serious problem would be delivered to my doorstep. Has anyone else had such a problem and how did you handle it? I definitely do not want this to happen to another compromised transplant person.
