Finding Support

Hello everyone~ I'm new in the Raleigh, NC area and looking for someone to take the journey with me through the kidney transplant process. I don't know where I can go to reach out to find folks who can volunteer to go down this path. I cannot begin the transplant program without having a supportive partner. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you for your reply. I've run out of options on where I can find someone who might be interested in taking this journey with me. I cannot start the kidney transplant process without a "support partner". I have reached out to the local senior center as well as the kidney foundation and the few outlets that advertise "support"; however, none of these outlets assist in linking someone together in this process. Short of posting an ad through Craig's list or the local public newspaper (which is not an option I want to exercise), I do not know where I can find a volunteer who has the time and interest in assisting me. As you already know, as a transplant recipient, you need someone to go to classes and appointments and can be a support through this process. I have insurance and can cover the aftercare, it's the "pre-care" that is the challenge.

Hi, I'm new here, but there is a NKF Peer Mentorship program that you can sign up for and they will set you up with a mentor, someone who has been through the process. Here is the link with the info: kidney.org/patients/peers

Hope it helps!
