Aching lower back.....

Hi everyone, I read , in the long list of side effects , that MMF can cause lower back pain. Has anyone found they have suffered from this or muscular aches and pains. This pain won’t go. Seeing team in January and will mention it.

Best wishes

Jo

I can't think of a biological link between MMF and low half pain. Where did you read that? If it bothers you continuously please call your team and ask them about it now.

What's MMF?

Dear LBacote,

Mycophenolate Mofetil, It is an Anti-Rejection Drug. I was On it myself, for about a year- or so- after my Transplant. I don't recall any Particular 'Problems', with it- except perhaps 'Extra' Blemishes/ Warts.... quite Normal, for me anyway.

Can you please provide a name for this? I don't know what MMF is-an anti rejection prescription?

Thank you. I have lower back pain as well and am on cellcept; however, its not consistent. Told one of the doctor about the lower back pain and she did not connect it with cellcept. Therefore, I will ask my Transplant Team about it.

From my experience, had my transplant for 21+ years, and have been on Myfortic (Cellcept) this whole time and low back pain was never an issue for me. Until they got me on the right dose that first year, I did have a lot of GI issues.Low back pain could mean a UTI, muscle strain, or some other issue. Make sure you tell your doctor about this, so they can find out what is going on.

I have learned to tell my nephrologist any problem or issue no matter how small it may seem. You know your body better than anyone and know when something is not right. Doctor can't help you if you don't tell him.

Keep us posted.

Having spent two rounds of PT for different issues with my back just since March, I agree with WYOAnne. No need to suffer with back pain while waiting for an appt so far out. Back pain is the worst to have to deal with, if nothing is being done for you. After 39 years with my transplant I know which doctor to start with, but generally I don't stop till I have a reasonable explanation to what is going on with me. Personally for me my GP is a good starting point as she has known me for about 15 yrs. Good luck with the back!
