8 years after my transplant I'm itching so bad that I can't sleep. Anyone else have this experience?

My meds have not changed and I'm using the same soap, shampoo, don't have any food alergies. My nephrologist says my kidney is working just fine and is stumped as to why I'm itchy. Also, this past July, I experienced terrible pain in my right thigh (same side as transplant). Iwent to the ER where they took exrays and said I had sciatica. Then they sent me to see an Orthopedic doctor who said it was not sciatica. My knee goes out from under me and I've fallen many times (luckily no injuries). No one knows what's causing this. I know this must sound crazy, but could my kidney have dropped and is leaning on a nerve in my groin?

Have you had your liver checked?

Yes, no liver problems.

Dear 1transplant,

My 'gut feeling' is to have a THOUROUGH Check Up- Make an appointment, difficult as it is at the moment. Yes 'Something' Could have Dropped.... not necessarily just your Kidney.

I would, in the first instance, contact your Transplant Team and Explain to them ALL your Symptoms. Include any, apparently unrelated issues, maybe 'Tummy Troubles', Odd 'Aches and Pains', That time you 'Wet Yourself' and so on.

Hopefully this is NOT your Transplant 'Giving Up' and has some Other Cause, which IS quite Possible. Do you still have an appendix, for example.

Can you let us 'know' what you are Told please? I know that ALL our Very Best Wishes, are with you.

I have an upcoming appointment with my neph who's new to me. I plan to explain in full details, what my concerns are and request an MRI with contrast. I will get to the bottom of this and look for answers, not posibilities. And I will post my findings. Thanks for your response.

My doctor always ask me if I’m having itching ? So I believe there are people with your issue. Please tell your doctor.

I'm 8 yrs post & have similar issues w/o the itching. I was told because of prednesone for 8 yrs, bones are weak. Good luck

Well, I'm not taking Prednisone, so that's ruled out. Thanks

Sometimes the itchiness in body could be due to rise in your Phosphorus and Potassium level in your body . . . Get a thorough blood work done. . Gudluck n stay safe. .. 👍

I also am driven insane with itching . . . .

My consultant doesn't want to know.

Have you had any drug changes prior to the itch-torment starting ?

eg, to adoport (tacro) ; to lansoprazole ?

(sorry , I just read that you have had 'no med changes')

I also have severe spine & disc deterioration . . .

One can have liver irritation without liver function impairment showing in tests . . . . how is your alcohol consumption ?

Without changes to drugs , many drugs can start to register stress to your liver over time . Without showing functional impairment in the routine tests .
