Itching much worse post transplant

Could anybody suggest why my itching is so much worse after transplant? My nephrologist is unaware why this is so, having reviewed my medications.

How long ago did you have your transplant? I find hemp seed oil to help with my itching. It really calms it down.

Itching was much worse pre transplant but my skin is much thinner post where I bruise and bleed with the smallest bumps and cuts.

I used to itch before my transplant at night! My Dr changed my BP medicine and the itching stopped. Perhaps that might be that you allergic to your meds.

I’m the 3 months post transplant I was driven mad by itching. To the point where I could only sleep with ice packs on the places that itched otherwise I’d scratch till I bled.

My renal team made no suggestions other than antihistamine which didn’t help.

It we

Y of its own accord after about a month but was very very trying indeed.

My skin has altered dramatically post transplant and is much thinner.

I think it will just go so don’t worry . Ice stopped the itch scratch itch cycle for met

Good luck

Skin thinning is a side effect of prednisone which for the most of us is a required medication for life. I have been treating my skin carefully with skin oil or lotion even when it is not looking dry. Always use sunscreen when going out (of course I do forget lol!), and wear cotton instead of polyester clothing. I hope everyone stays comfortable and healthy!
