I wanna know why the doctors treat dialysis like it's one size fit all...

When I was on dialysis the doctors adjusted the time that patients had to be "treated" depending on weight, and other health factors. I've heard stories that some dialysis centers are not good at taking care pf patients; the one I went to did fine.

Because it is easier and cheaper for them. If you think about all the possible permutations that exist in our blood results then it would take a lot of effort by doctors to study all those for individual patients and fine tune dialysis to their specific needs. In a perfect world this would happen but in reality they just don't have enough time to devote to individuals. Certainly that has been my experience in the UK.

I feel.. I don't need three days a week... I feel we shouldn't have to wait six months to be sent to be put on the kidney list... It's more i feel about me but it's to much to write

I have been on nxstage dialysis since 2019 most of the doctors rounding act like they don’t care and the nurse doesn’t act like a patient advocate. She’s more like a warden.

I feel the doctors at the clinic are drive by doctors... They just go off a paper and not ask how you are really feeling

Hi AsheboroNC. I'm sorry this has been your experience at your clinic. Have you spoken with your social worker there? He/she is there to help you through any issues or grievances you may have about your care.

It's all the same with them... How much talking can i do for my self.. They have a system they go by they have been using for years.. All of us are not the same

I didn’t find it that way at all, my clinic and my doctors were quite attentive and listened to what I needed.

I get that same feeling from what my husband tells me that goes on at his treatment center. It’s like “Business as usual.” It’s true that they don’t really care cause they’ll have someone in your seat as soon as you check out(die or transfer). It’s a business and the doctors don’t get too involved either. They do just enough to keep you from complaining, but it takes strong advocates to speak up. The chairs at my husband’s Center are worn out. The doctor’s know it, but won’t do anything about it. They sitting for four or five hours in an uncomfortable seat. My husband is always advocating and they think he’s a complainter but what he advocates makes it right for others. If you don’t speak up, no one can help you. He has spoken up on many occasions and seen change. If you see something happening speak up! And get those health care workers from thinking it’s just another day on the job. It’s peoples lives on the line!

You have said a hand full... They call me little trouble maker lol... Because I'm always telling them whats right for me... Those nurses don't care... They hook you up and on to the next... They talk about death over your head... It's so much !!! They really don't understand that this is really depressing for me...

Keep talking and telling them what is right for you! It’s your right! Talk to the Social Worker there too. I know how you feel because my husband has a story and complains every time he comes back home. It’s too long to sit there in pain or uncomfortable for your treatment. Always speak up!
