I’m 1-1/2 years post transplant. I haven’t noticed any change in my hair however the first few months were definitely a roller coaster. Follow the doctors’ advise, watch your diet, drink plenty of water and exercise. In a few months, you’ll be feeling great!
Hi, Texasgirl--After my transplant, I felt like I was in a totally different body and I had on again off again hair loss, among a lot of other side effects to the meds. It was one of the hardest years of my life (along with the year on dialysis) but now, after 14 months, it's better. More because I got used to the crazy side effects rather than that they've gone away.
The first 6 months your body is getting used to your new meds. The 6 month mark was the time I started the upward trend. Everyday it seemed to get better and better.
In the beginning I thought I was losing my hair too. That too got better and my hair started to come in thicker.
Make sure you report all side effects to your transplant team. They can help you work it out.
I am now 19 years post transplant and enjoying life!
