Failing Fast

I am a 54 year old male. I was born with one kidney, which we found out when I was 26. It has been failing. For 10 years GFR was stable in the mid 20s. Since last March, it has dropped to 11 (was 15 three months ago). On the transplant list for 6 months. Need advice on finding donors and managing disease.

Look on National Kidney Foundation site for Big Ask Big Give. There is info to help find a donor and managing disease. Focus on becoming as healthy as you can for transplant. Prayers are with you. You didn’t say if you are on dialysis but your Nephrologist should be helping you with preparing just in case you need it as a bridge to transplant. You want a fistula ready instead of a line in your chest which is more likely to cause an infection.
