Insurance company issues? : Does anyone... - Kidney Transplant
Insurance company issues?
Yes!! It’s a struggle every month to fill meds!
Hi--For the longest time we (my son, as I am his caregiver) had a tough time managing all the medications associated with CKD, dialysis, transplant, and now post transplant. We found an excellent way to solve this issue. Check with your doctor/facility and ask them if you can get access to Specialty Pharmacy services. A Specialty Pharmacy is one which deals only with people who have chronic conditions and often times take many medications to manage their condition. Let me be clear--this is not mail in pharmacy, it is a specialized pharmacy where you have a nurse case manager handle the interaction between doctors, patient, and pharmacy. They arrange things for you so that you have your medications sent directly to you usually once a month. You provide the case manager with your insurance information for billing and a credit card for co-payments. Services are free of charge for using the specialty pharmacy. I found the one we use while waiting in a line at my local grocery store pharmacy to pick up yet another prescription just following my sons transplant in 2015. We have used it ever since and truly it has been a Gods send.
