I was diagnosed with CKD in 2004 as a result of hypertension. In 2014, my kidney function dropped to stage 5. On May 1, 2015 I received a kidney transplant at Univ. of Mi(Michigan Medicine) where my son, Kevin was my living kidney donor hero. He is doing great. I’ve had a few bumps in my kidney transplant journey, such as a blood clot, low white blood cell counts, hydronephrosis, several pre cancerous skin cancers removed, and some normal side effects from some of my transplant meds but I receive excellent care from my transplant nephrologists and have complete faith in them to guide and help me manage any kidney transplant challenges that come my way in the future. I am thankful everyday for this second chance of life with improved health and the energy to live my life to the fullest. With kidney transplant joy and thankfulness, Margo

Congratulations Margo on your "miracle.".......your new kidney from your son! I am 18 years post transplant and have had many "bumps" in my road. Just remember to stay positive and always be your own advocate. You know your body better than anyone, so make sure if you have any problems or questions you let your transplant team know. Best of luck to you! Know that we are all here for you!
