I tested on Monday and the lab says my results are back today I haven't seen them yet so I'm not sure what the next step is but I'm sure it'll be soon. Feel free to stay in contact with me and I'll keep you updated

Sounds good. I called my insurance and it seems I have to pay 100% everything medical related. Sooo now I really hesitate because I don't have that kinda money for that...

Check with others on the site I don't believe you should have to pay anything medical the kidney foundation should do all that.

The insurance company of the recipient of the liver should pay for all medical expenses,

Meant to say kidney

you shouldn't have to pay anything. And the recipients insurance will take care of the surgery and any additional medical things that the foundation doesn't. I'm not sure who your donating center is, but you can always call them and ask. I haven't given my insurance out to anyone.

I signed up directly with a specific hospital and transplant center, so I'm not sure if it is different, but I gave blood/urine on Monday and got a call yesterday from the transplant team updating me and letting me know the next steps.... so it shouldn't be too long.

From my understanding you shouldn't have to pay for anything medically. It's covered by your insurance and nkf. Are you donating to someone specific?

First of all, thank you for being a living donor! ... When a friend donated his kidney to me, my insurance paid for all medical expenses and some non medical expenses including his travel and hotel stay. NKF doesn’t pay anything. I do remember that it took a long time, maybe a few months, to process those payments and to reflect in the statements. If you’re unsure call your social worker or the financial coordinator at the transplant clinic.
