How can I register with NKF to get living donor card
NKF living donor card: How can I register... - Kidney Donation
NKF living donor card
I actually wouldn't recommend it. I did about 3 years ago and STILL have heard nothing (which is probably good because I donated my kidney about 18 months ago! Lol). I registered with the three local hospitals that do transplants. I live in a major city, so you might have fewer options. But google "which hospitals do kidney transplant near me". I decided to go with the hospital that I felt was responsive and protective of me. Remember one of the benefits, and drawbacks, of donating altruistically is that you are only worried about you since you dont know the recipient. You want a hospital that makes you feel protected, not like a piece of meat to be hurried along! It was the best decision I ever made, and now my recipient is one of my closest friends! Hope this helps!
If you are in the United States and want to register as an organ donor, you may find out more here: donatelife.net/. NKF does not provide donor cards. If you are interested in being a living donor, you contact the transplant centers in your area to ask questions and begin the registration. They will provide you with more information and help you begin the evaluation process to become a donor.
To find a transplant center in your area in the U.S., visit: optn.transplant.hrsa.gov/me.... Select “Transplant Centers by Organ” under Member Type, then “Kidney” under Organ Type, and then select your state.
