I am a 40 year old male with a current BMI of 33 but I have never been on a diet or exercised (I used to in the Army but that was 20 years ago). I think if I started I can get my BMI under 30 by working on my weight but I doubt I can get it much lower than 28 as I am just built heavy. Even when I was in the Army and was a exercise nut I never achieved under 26 BMI and I ate healthy back then.
If I work on my weight how long would it take for my body to expel any toxins and get healthy enough to donate?
I also have a major mental illness but am financially stable with good income. I know this may make it hard to donate in the US but how about other countries like EU, Australia and Canada (other countries in Europe just not those in the EU). I am more than willing to cover my own expenses and not looking for any type of financial support for travel expenses and hotels during my travel to a country that will allow me to.
I also have had high blood pressure since I was a teenager but it has always been managed with normal blood pressure medicine. Will this be an issue?
Thanks for any information.
If it is possible with what I stated above does anyone have a safe link on the types of foods I should begin eating to help in the donor process?
