Being a dialysis patient can have its difficulty, but when you have dual diagnosis like being a diabetic sometimes it feels like all he'll breaks through. But I decided to reach out to my medical team and I got the support I needed as well as understanding my situation. I have a plan that I and my registered dietitian and my diabetes doctor have designed. Not saying it's going to be easy, but doable and getting support from you wonderful people from healthunlock plus knowing that I'm not alone really helps. Are there anyone doing dialysis that has diabetes? How do cope when things get scary your advice would be very helpful .

Hi Quita55, you are right, I think every single one of us has experienced what you are going through at one point. My husband has been on peritoneal dialysis for 4 years, I have been his caregiver, pharmacist/cook/storage manager, well, you name it. It is a huge task to take care of someone in this condition, plus he has IBS, (irritable bowel sindrome), and this last condition affects terribly all he eats making him to have a terrible diarrhea whenever he eats certain foods. So yes, as a patient I can tell you you did the right thing, which is to keep close to your Endocrinologist, as well as your Nephrologist, your renal dietitian and your PD nurse. You can manage these conditions, just need to be focused and be the best version of yourself keeping your loved ones near you. Sometimes you will have very good days and others not so much, but if you are enduring such a hard treatment is because you want to live, so cheer up, share your experience and do any activity that can bring you joy. We are all here rooting for you. We can always find a kind comment from someone that just lime you wants to live a good life at its fullest. Be positive and stay safe!
