my husband transition to going to the clinic in December of last year. We now have lots of supplies that are not out of date. If someone could use these, I would be happy to give them away.

If you cannot find a patient, see if there is a training center or an incenter unit that can use your supplies for training. They won't accept them for use on patients, but some will for training.

I have the same problem with my PD solutions. Since they are prescription no one else can use them. I did get the clinic I went to to take all the other items.

Yup...they're "prescriptions" only meant for your hubby. One clinic, a very busy one, accepted leftovers since it was slammed with patients but our most recent one refused. I've heard of people giving their supplies to veterinary clinics, so maybe try them. Yes, animals can be put on PD!

After I transitioned in to clinic after home hemo, I was able to donate a lot of my leftover supplies to my local animal shelter. Apparently you cannot donate to humans once the supplies are in your possession for some reason, and you can't return them because your insurance company already paid for them. I had heard from another patient they brought most of it to the local animal shelter. They gladly took cases of saline, boxes of syringes with and without he sharps, unopened gauze, boxes of gloves, tape and any unopened boxes of alcohol preps. I had very little leftover which made tossing it less painful. I brought my IV needles to my clinic and they disposed of them for me there. Those you don't want to put in your regular trash pick up.

I still have 15 boxes of solution but was able to give the clinic all my non prescription supplies. It’s a small clinic so they were welcomed.
