Hello I recently discovered a lump where my fistula is. My question is that normal and should I have it checked out? I can still feel the thrill in my fistula so I guess that's a good thing. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Thanks Quita55

Lump where my fistula is

My fistula is nothing BUT lumps and bumps. I know the source of most of them, but if I worried about one, I'd be making an appt with the Nephro or, possibly, with the Vascular surgeon who created the fistula.
How is your pulse at, say, your wrist. I ask because if there's something wrong then you want to be sure that the rest of your arm, downstream of the fistula, is still getting blood.
Always have anything new happening to your fistula checked out. Better safe than sorry. You can get small aneurysms that need to be watched and if they get too large need to be fixed. You don't want a weak spot in it. It's not always that if you can feel the thrill and bruit you're okay.
My husband had a lump in his fistula that grew and became an aneurysm. The aneurysm burst at the dialysis center and it became a life threatening emergency. Even worse it occurred at night and in the middle of a severe snow storm. Thank goodness they were able to find a doctor who was able to get to the hospital to perform emergency surgery. The whole thing was quite dramatic. The nurses had to hold pressure on the fistula all the way up to the operating room. Always get changes checked out.
