Assisted living with PD support?

Hi all, my 84 year old mum needs to move to assisted living, and she is unable to manage her home PD herself (my brother currently manages the cycler in the evening and morning). We are in the Houston, TX area, and cannot find an assisted living facility with staff who can manage PD, nor can we find a secondary provider to come into a facility and do it for her each evening and morning.

Does anyone have any suggestions or guidance for us, has anyone had this experience? Where should we turn?

Thank you so much.

consider speaking with current clinic social worker. They should be able to assist you with þhis. Blessings

Kidney Coach has good advice re the clinic social worker. Also contact your local Office for Aging Services. They often have information on situations like yours or can direct you to resources that do.

I was on hemodialysis in center when I fell and broke my hip and got a partial hip replacement. While I was in the hospital I worked with their social worker to choose a nursing home rehab center near my dialysis center. I was able to continue going to my dialysis center while in rehab, first by ambulance while I was bed bound and then by wheelchair van as I got better. When I was discharged after 20 days my husband drove me to dialysis and I used a rolling walker to go in and later a cane as i got more mobile. Also, plenty of dialysis patients use wheelchair vans and other public transports to go from nursing homes or from home to dialysis. The nursing home took care of arranging my transport and it was all covered by Medicare and my Medigap policy for 20 days. Check with Medicare about how long ambulance or chair car transport is covered.
