Well, I am now taking gabapentin twice a day and helps lessen the anxiety during the day. At night I take 1/2 tab trazadone and melatonin which gets me to sleep. Tried lexapro but it was too strong and could not function well. Hard to find anxiety med as a lot of the fast acting ones are not prescribed any more to people over 65 years of age. Also I needed a fast acting one and gabapentin is one. Any other ideas from others? Take care. BB

Please consult with your doctor before taking any medication

I have been taking Alprazolam .5 mg just before my session. I think that it is generic for Xanax. It works. And I sleep for about an hour. You will need a prescription.

Well, I wouldn't recommend it. However, Trazodone, Xanax and valium are cheap and will help.

On top of my daily medications for anxiety and depression, I was prescribed Lorazepam/Ativan for my dialysis days. Sometimes I won't need the medication for a few weeks and then BAM, my anxiety starts acting up again. lol It definitely gets me through treatment and yes it does make me sleep - - especially if I'm high strung.
