Insomnia help

I have the same issue. I bought an electric blanket and found getting into a warm bed helped me sleep better. I now have less sleepless nights
sometime a open a window alittle bit help, the fresh air put me to sleep.
I have problems getting to sleep as well as getting back to sleep after i wake up at night. Melatonin either 1 mg or .5 mg helps if I wait an hour or so. If I take more Melatonin than that, it has the reverse effect. Most knowledgeable people say take the smallest dose. However. i know people who went to sleep clinics and were prescribed much higher doses, such as, 5mg to 8 mg. That 0kind of dose would make me hyper.
Anyway, I'm finding that im getting to bed later and later and getting up later and later. This is frustrating because i used to be a morning person. I want to stop this before it worsens. Sleep clinics call this "delayed sleep syndrome." My poor sister suffered from this until she was up all night and asleep most of the day and struggled to correct it.
Right now, im trying to take the Melatonin earlier like after dinner and doing sleep prep earlier. Getting up earlier is also a must until you can regular your sleep/wake cycle better. I also try to clear my mind by doing some light meditation. Thinking about problematic life events seem to be worst at night. Keeping them at bay or out of your mind goes a long way in helping you fall asleep. But, its not easy to do.
Breathing exercises (attending to breathes and counting breathes) have helped a lot of people fall asleep. And, while you're doing that you cant worry about life events. These exercises are the basis for a lot of sleep programs. Google to find some.
Hoping for the best for you.
I'm anemic but setting the thermostat to 68 degrees helps me sleep.
