Had an arterial graft inserted into my arm from the elbow to the armpit. I am 3 weeks out from this surgery and I am still dealing with a lot of pain and redness. I can't have any clothing on the area but still the redness and pain persists. I've even tried a different detergent hoping to find a remedy to no avail. Surgeon is very cavalier about doing anything about it and my nephrologist doesn't want to step on any toes.
Any suggestions??

Time to get a 2nd opinion from another surgeon. You don't want on-going problems with this. It sure won't be able to be used for dialysis until these issues get cleared up.
Redness and pain sounds like an inflammation or infection - you need to see the surgeon or a different surgeon. Did you try ice pack wrapped in a towel 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off? That works better the first 24 hours. This is not normal.
I would ask your primary care doctor for a 2nd opinion ASAP! Or try going to a clinic/ urgent care etc. You definitely don't want an infection in your graft. That can cause all sorts of problems and health complications. If you do have an infection chances are it wont resolve it's self. If your surgeon has hurt feelings or ego cause you sought treatment/opinion else where so be it. He/she will get over it.
Thank you all for your comments. Something was wrong. I got an appointment with the surgeon and he quickly surmised a hospital visit and surgery was in order to remove the infection. Arm is much better.
