I can't lose weight. I follow a dialysis diet fairly closely. I admit sweets are my weakness. I try to eat more fruits than "goodies" & am good for awhile. I have used a good diary, consulted with my dietitian, more walking, all the things I'm supposed to do. I have to many "slip ups". Night eating is also a problem. I have no self control at night when I wake up STARVING after a successful day of eating right. Any one else struggling?

The answers you seek are in your post. Walking is okay but you must do more to lose weight. Speak to your PCP to develop a program that will safely raise your heart rate. Second, stop cheating with sweets. Empty calories won't help you in any way.
Your dietician may be proscribing too rigid a diet for you, and then you feel deprived and overeat.
There are ways to eat a good variety and good amount of food tailored to your needs (while helping you with withdraw from sugar) that should keep you relatively satisfied.
Also check with "Overeaters Anonymous" 12 step program, in your area to help with the emotional sides of overeating.
Because you are on dialysis you will always retain fluids in between treatments. Fruits are like 90 something percent water, and not always the best for potassium levels. Besides fluid gain we are just like “normal” bodies. You must use more calories than you take in to loose weight. All bodies metabolize differently. Some tricks I use are filling up on water or ice (be careful not to over fill with more than you can take off in one treatment)! Also chewing gum can psychologically help trick your body into believing it is eating something. I know how hard it can be to feel like crap and still exercise but a body in motion will stay in motion. Dialysis patients are worriers! Stay fighting!
Well I honestly don’t know how to help, but one thing could could be your drinking to much liquid
Don’t know much of the science but if I drink to much after dialysis I gain a bit more weight it then I should have.
I hope this was helpful in anyway!
Thank you for the feed back. I will need your advice😀
