How do you know whether you are about to get hernia? And how to prevent it?
I am 1 week old on home PD, trying to get used to all the fills and drains. Feeling like balloon when filled and like being kicked in stomach when drained. With all the stretching of the peritoneal, how much caution do I need to take to prevent hernia? I am pretty active person and would like to be outdoors doing stuff (hiking, baseball, basketball, play tennis/golf, biking,etc..)

. Actually lifting anything over 10#s should be avoided altogether. As far as the other activities, give your surgery a chance to heal and remember nothing to strenuous while you have fluid on. Other than that, don’t worry so much, enjoy yourself, life’s too short!!
Making sure that you have easy bowel movements and that you don't feel like you are straining when picking items up is what I would advise. As long as you are mindful and keep a good bowel regimen you'll do great!
