I started haemo dialysis last week so done 6 sessions now and already seen a big decline on my output. It use to be 450mls.
My input is 600mls and output is only 100 to 150mls, i still feel the urge to pee but nothing happens. I'm still taking my diuretic of 240mg of fruseomide, which use to be twice a day but now just once. I'm strict with my fluid intake including jelly, yoghurt, ice cream, gravy, and carefully with high fluid fruit like pineapple.
What I'm wondering is if you can't pee any more are you prone to bladder infections?
Thanks in advance for your advice

Don't forget when on hemo they are also taking fluid off of you. I remember when I was on hemo they would weigh me before each session and was told it would tell them how much fluid they had to get off me in that session. What I remember is that I hardly peed at all in the weeks I was on dialysis. I was on fluid restriction and took a daily Lasix and sometimes did not pee for most of the day. I do not recall having any issues with UTI's.
If you have questions about it, ask your nephrologist or your dialysis team?
Thanks Anne. Yes I am being weighed and they are comparing my dry weight to wet weight and then adding 0.4mls flush back. I was 5kg above my dry weight when I started on the 31st Jan, but they have only been taking the excess off slowly and building it up each session so now up to 2.5l off on my next session on Tuesday. They are taking it slow due to my low blood pressure. I'm now down to 3.5kg above my dry weight so getting there.
