Hi All,

My wife just got diagnosed with ESRD. We're a little devastated, and a lot confused. We're read and viewed a lot of information in the past few days, everything seems so complicated. We're hoping we can do home-based hemodialysis, but not sure whether anyone in our area can assist us with this. Thanks for listening.

Good Day to all. :)

It's really hard to get a handle on all the info and options out there. I started dialysis in March, and from what I understand you have to start on in center dialysis before doing home. Home hemo requires three months of training three times a week. Home hemo is done five days a week unlike in center which is done three. From what I understand, it is an immense amount of work, time and patience. I am not able to do at home because I don't have a set assistant, yet! Best of luck!

A good resource is kidneyschool.org online. You can learn in small bites what this is all about and how it all works.
