I need an MRI of my head and cannot find one around me in North Carolina that offers "Silent Scan" or "Quiet Suite." I called Canon, the manufacturer of the first one and they refused to tell me where their sold units are located. Asking the dr. is worthless. When they prescribe an MRI they don't take into account that some people like me who have tinnitus can't afford to have their hearing negatively affected. I will go anywhere on the east coast between New Jersey and Florida so my MRI experience won't make things worse. Calling facilities has led me to know that the phone schedulers have no clue at all as one didn't know what a decibel is and another referred to the sound level as decimals. I know I can wear ear plugs and headphones but that only lowers the level by 60 at the most. So many of the machines are at 110 and 120 that it is extra difficult to consider having the MRI. Any suggestions for locations is appreciated.

I had to have an MRI of my head once due to the daily migraines I was having...nothing like having your head caged suffering from a migraine with all the banging so I hope you find something. I now have to be sedated to get an MRI as I developed a bad case of claustrophobia with that experience.

Add ear plugs and a set of plastic headphones so you will be set for a less stressful event.

I just did a quick search - does this help?princetonradiology.com/quie...

Thank you. I had read that they might have a quiet one, but hadn't seen this site page despite typing in all the terms I could think of. If it is really as quiet as they say it is they will have me as a patient. I was hopeful I could find something within a couple hundred miles. Unfortunately it is not to be.
