Diet & GFR

7 months ago, my husband limited his protein to 4 ounces per day. He got his calories from whole grains then added plenty of vegetables and fruits to his diet. No soda or candy, etc. His GFR went from the low 70's up to 81.

We did not put 2 and 2 together. Most recently, we both went grain free and he upped his meat to 8 ounces . His most recent labs put his GFR down to 67...eek!

Called the Nephrologist and asked him to rerun his labs in 3 weeks. He (my husband) his lowering his meat back down to 4 ounces and going back to the same diet that he was on 7 months ago.

I will update everyone in this post on what his GFR is when he does the new test.
