Xenotransplantation of pig heart

Hello everyone. I’m sure we have all read about the recent pig kidneys transplanted into humans successfully. Well, it appears it’s been done again but this time it looks like a heart transplant was done.

It’s too early to tell, but this case here seems to be more beneficial towards making it a reality considering the person receiving the transplant is a fully living person and not someone on life support!

I think if this works out this will be the game changer vs the other pig kidney transplant done on a person who was on life support. We will see. It just logically would make more sense that if this works in a fully functioning human who is alive and sentient it would be a more reassuring breakthrough!

Me too! This would solve the organ shortage problem forever. I feel like of got a can fast track the creation of vaccines why can’t they fast tracks and pour millions into genetically engineered organ research right?! 😉

True that! But who knows what's behind their policies when it comes to medical breakthroughs!

The bio-artificial kidney project for example has been struggling for money for years...

I know they earned a $650,000 prize from KidneyX, but that's almost nothing... I wonder why they don't support and promote it...

The good thing about pig kidney and heart transplants was that they were a little better promoted in the media...

Anyway, almost all these breakthroughs happen in the States (God bless America!) so people like me who live in other countries have to keep their fingers crossed that they can live long enough to have them in their countries one day! 😅🤞

The Middle East!

Ahh okay, you could always come to America if you urgently needed the surgery or tech. I’m sure something as big as xenotransplantation or artificial organs would be available in most countries relatively soon after they go mainstream though

Yeah, I think you're right.🤞

Well, technically, anyone on dialysis is considered living on life support. I consider myself a fully living person regardless. It's perspective really. I know so many who look at me as a "less than" individual. It's all good. Blessings

That sucks that people do that. Everyone needs help in some area of their life it shouldn’t be looked down upon. I think in the medical community a conscious person who’s not brain dead is valued more though bc there’s more risk towards experimenting on people who are conscious and haven’t essentially died.
