Hi.Have your blood levels checked for anemia? There are two kinds. One is blood levels of red cells or hemocrit and hemoglobin. And then check for B12 anemia, or pernicious anemia. Both anemias have easy fixes. Also have you vit D level checked.

Yes, CKD can cause fatigue just cause. But it would be good to make sure it is not anemia.

I do too. Many of our meds will cause fatigue, and fatigue can also be caused by chronic conditions. If you're overly sleepy (different than fatigue) have you been tested for sleep apnea?

Hi Chimama,

I agree about being tested for anemia.

Also, are you up peeing a lot at night? Sometimes I think that adds to my fatigue since I never get uninterrupted/refreshing sleep.

Many meds can make you fatigued as well as CKD. I know my fatigue is mainly from my autoimmune disease and nocturnal peeing.

Best wishes : )

Usually once I’m lucky enough to get to sleep I don’t wake unless my little buddy scoots and steals the covers lol but not I told my husband the other day I could drive the 2.5 hours to my daughters and visit awhile drive the 2.5 miles back without ever needing to go pee. Sometimes I wake up to a weak trickle then don’t pew all day Keep drinking water but just legs and ankles swell . Bummer I have to go for ultrasound renal and kidneys this week. I hate this I feel like all I do is go to the Dr sit and sleep!

If you are filling up with water in other areas, I would not be drinking as much.

Hi Chimama,

At least my kitty is a great sleeper. He lays on my pillow, half on my shoulder with his cheek against mine. I have to move him to get myself up and then again when I come back to bed because he steals my warm spot!!

Good luck on the Ultra Sound, at least they don't hurt and the gel has a warmer now not like the old days of ice cold gel!!! I am sick of Dr. appt. too. I have Cardiologist tomorrow, then next week Ultra Sound of my leg arteries, then the next week my PCP and Oncologist. Then a break until I see my Neph again in early Jan. YAY a week off for Xmas and New Year's!!

Sometimes I can go 12 hours and not pee, other times I'm going every 1/2 hour like today. It doesn't matter if I take my diuretic or not.

Give your sweetie Chi a hug for me : )

Hi Chimama yes I would get sleepy all of a sudden during the day several times a day and have to take a 20 minute nap. Let your nephrologist know and they will check blood levels for you to target the issue.

I wish that could be. I’m like at stage 3b no reference to a nephrologist or hematologist or even a dietitian..! What ....they wait until your on dialysis to even see you? I don’t get it stupid insurance companies should realize it would cost less to catch it treat it earlier before end stage grr

Push for a referral and be the squeaky wheel until you get one! My ins. approved a dietician because of the CKD diagnosis. Good luck.

You need to definitely be seeing a nephrologist don’t take no for answer this is your life you need to fight for

I'd bet that the cause is restless sleep patterns at night without enough REM sleep.

Try changing up when you take your meds. Some meds probably should be taken at night becuase they can make your tired.

I am also 3B and have daytime fatigue. I have slight anemia but what I have found for me is that food /what I eat and how much I eat seems to help. Keep your portions smaller. Eat a balanced meal with half your plate veggies, then small portion of fish, chicken, tofu, or beans and small portion of whole grain bread or pasta or brown rice. You can still get great info on diet on line. Keep bugging insurance company about nephologist or maybe they will approve of an internist instead of a family dr. Wishing you well.

Yes. I'm tired all the time. I've been on iron for nearly a year now, but am still anemic. Not anemic enough for blood transfusions or injections though. It is very hard for me to keep working. I'm grateful I can telework, but am exhausted all the time. On the weekends I'll sleep past noon.

My husband is after me all the time to eat regular. After I had 2 feet small bowel removed my weight seems stead at 100 or so pounds. I’m going to have to see a dietitian or nutritionist and nephrologist if one will see me . This nausea is really getting terrible feels like pregnancy nauseous. I know the diet should consist of a lot vegetables less protein not a problem for me I am hungry but can’t eat:( sorry don’t want to be a whiny baby.

I’m hoping not to have a transfusion. But I know I’d probably feel better afterwards for awhile. I think I’ve been anemic my whole life . I’m so sorry you’re feeling so exhausted it’s hard to do cooking and laundry then keep working on top of that. Hope you feel better soon thanks for sharing I feel alone sometimes and hate to talk to my kids I feel like a burden and worse a broken record. Can’t remember what I already said and repeat it and Bless them they don’t get frustrated with me . See a Dr tomorrow for the yearly Medicare check up lol He took over for my PCP of 40 years and that was a year and half this will be first time I’ve met him.

Then a then a renal Ultrasound Next day . My other Dr kept closer eye on me this one .. well I may need look for another Doc. Bless you

Thank you I’ll try but I doubt they’ll listen . I was supposed to see the Dr that took over when my primary dr retired one and half years ago. They called and They’ cancelled my appointment so I just made a appointment with the PA that ordered my renal Ultrasound she seems to know and very caring she would make a great dr . Tomorrow is my ultrasound.

My spouse is extremely fatigued but more so on dialysis days. Very low RBC count & he is anemic.
