frequent urination is a very common symptom of CKD. I suggest talking with your nephrologist or dietician about the amount of water/liquid you should be drinking daily.

Hi S_dillow,

Some people pee more and some pee less. When my eGFR got down to 28 and Stage 4, I wasn't peeing that much at all during the day. Sometimes I'd go 12 hours and not pee, then I'd be up all night peeing every half hour. It depends on the person, we're all different and we drink different amounts too. I also take a diuretic for edema for my congestive heart failure but even so I don't pee right after taking it like I did 20 years ago when I started taking it. I used to have to map out my shopping trips by where the stores with the bathrooms were LOL

Hi S, Yes, it's a good thing. It means you are helping your impaired kidneys. Try to have fairly pale-yellow pee. If it is clear, might mean you are drinking too much. I stop drinking liquids by 7 pm to help with not having to go every two hours at night. But I drink a lot, 64 ounces during the day and I pee A LOT!

We run on a 24 hr day...but kidneys dont always share that time...especially when struggling. Try to drink the same amount at the same time each day...those little Pearl's will catch up

Hi S_dillow: My kidney doctor has me on an 80-ounce daily water regimen, and that produces a lot of urine, especially at night when I'm up every two hours or so to urinate. I understand your concern, but please understand that your increase in your daily water intake is helpful for your kidney health.
