Doesn’t CKD cause loss of taste? I actually have a huge increase in smell so that most smells are bothersome.

It is possible for either a change in smell or taste to happen to patients with advanced kidney disease. I suggest talking to your nephrologist about the symptoms.

It can for some but not all. Many find a metallic taste more bothersome. Blessings

I did have some what of a metallic taste, but only experienced in ESRD, a month or so before my transplant.Always tell your nephrologist things you are experiencing. He is the one that can advise you the best.

No loss of smell is when you have Covid not in CKD instead you may have a added metallic taste. What you are describing is know as phantom smell it is harmless. I am a super taster I can taste and smell things most people cannot. If it bothers you Dr can prescribe antidepressants although I would avoid that in CKD
