I have CDK stage 2 (65 GFR) and I am taking both Losartan and Metformin for HBP and Diabetes. Based on your experience, does it make any difference for the Kidney's health to take them with food, or do you think is Okay to take them without food? I would appreciate the benefit of your experience.

The ordering physician should have provided you with instructions on taking each of these medicines. At the very least you should have received a medical information paper with each script filled. If not, you can ask your pharmacist for another. Remember your pharmacist is also a doctor (a doctor of pharmacology), but the first one to check with is the doctor who knows your specific health issues and follow that physicians recommendation.

Thank you Mr_Kidney, as always very informative. My Dr said, on that subject, either way is fine, if it bothers your stomach then take them after a meal. I was hoping to get some feedback from other experiences..
Please remember that your doctor said you could take the medications before or after a meal. Most likely others taking these medications would have been told something similar by their physician. Before stopping all meds for T2D I was taking Metformin and was told I could take it before or after a meal. When I looked up my meds up on drugs.com I found some mild interactions with other meds I was taking so I took the Metformin about 30 minutes after my breakfast and then again about 30 minutes after my evening meal. Consider going to Drugs.com and setting up your medications list and see what comes up. Then if necessary, you can bring it up again with your doctor.
Best of luck.
