Question about labs

I had an US and it showed my L kidney is smaller than R and has a cyst. My urine protein is 100 (range 5-24); creatinine is 1.9; I have anemia and my Vid D is low. I'm scheduled for a biopsy on the 6th. I'm not sure what is going on. No diabetes and my BP is 117/79. Any one have a clue?

Welcome to the forum on Kidney Disease. You have come to a good site for support and sharing. We are not able diagnose on this forum. Here is a link to information on eGFR and how it is calculated. This is a start on information to discuss with your Doctor. kidney.org/atoz/content/gfr

Actually, it sounds as if your doctor is unsure, hence the biopsy. I would think once the physician has the results you'll be informed. Ask a lot of questions as the doctor gives you specifics from the biopsy and if possible bring someone with you who can write down what is said so you can concentrate on the information. If you don't have someone who can go with you and you have a recorder on your cell phone ask permission to record the information so you don't forget anything. Any questions after that, let us know and I'm sure folks here can give you direction.

The biopsy will help the doctor discover what is going on with your kidneys.

I too am not diabetic and do not have high BP. A biopsy showed that I had FSGS. The results help the doctor with treatment. I always felt that it is better knowing the cause of something, than the not knowing.

Take care and good luck on the 6th! Keep us posted...
