The article below should answer the questions you have. I found out about this when talking to a person at the dialysis center on a visit and they have gluten issues and are on dialysis. Hope it helps.
I'm not sure if I can answer that one clearly but I will tell you what happened to me.
Right I have coeliac disease, as well as allergies to dairy, egg and wheat and found out about it after being diagnosed at stage 4 gfr 20%.
What happened was I started to be sick on everything I ate and at the same time I had kidney stones which made them look into my kidneys. They confirmed the disease of renal failure but continued to be sick so I paid for allergies test and then I had a biopsy of my gut that confirmed coeliac disease and the other allergies.
What I was told by the renal consultant that it could be the stress my body was under from undiagnosed CKD. See I was born with it and went 20 years with out knowing so they say the stress can cause allergies.
Sorry I don't think I've answered your question but explained that happened to me.
I'm guessing from the question you've just been diagnosed? Gluten free food has improved a lot over the last 5 years so hopefully if you are having to go down that line it will be easier. Just be careful of all the hidden foods and sauces and even drinks especially acholol.
