Thanks to everyone who responded.

Is anyone using a natural product that helps to cleanse the kidneys?

I am still going to find out about diet etc but I was wondering if there was something else I can take?

HI,

Be very careful about supplements and other OTC products. What may seem like it is too good to be true, probably is. Always check with your doctor before you take anything including prescriptions.

As far as cleansing the kidneys...the only thing I know that helps the kidneys do the filtering they do is water. Depending on where you are with CKD, the consumption of water to help filter your body is usually a good thing to do. Since you are at stage 2, water should be your friend.

There is a lengthy discussion about supplements in previous discussions on this site. Use the search tool at the top of the page.

Many doctors suggest high quality fish oil which is high in Omega 3 to balance out the Omega 6 overload. Our western diet is high in Omega 6 which causes inflammation and can be found in most oils (canola, sunflower, safflower, vegetable etc) and almost all processed foods contains one or more of these oils.

FYI- better choices of oils would be: olive oil, flax oil(never cook with this only use cold), macadamia nut oil, small amounts of coconut oil, small amounts of organic butter that came from grass fed cows.

I actually supplement with flax oil rather than fish, but fish oil is a great choice for most if you can find fresh oil that has not gone rancid. Make sure it is high quality from a reputable company. As always, consult your doctor before starting any new supplement.

Not what you're looking for?
