Yes this can be a symptom of CKD. I would strongly suggest you see a doctor as soon as possible.

Other symptoms can include:

feel more tired and have less energy

have trouble concentrating

have a poor appetite

have trouble sleeping

have muscle cramping at night

have swollen feet and ankles

have puffiness around your eyes, especially in the morning

have dry, itchy skin

need to urinate more often, especially at night.

Thanks KelliC saw my doctor this morning and she just said it was a symptom of ckd. I have just lost my husband suddenly and she also thinks if could be anxiety. We just have so many side effects it's difficult to know all these things. This site is so helpful thanks again

Is your doctor running tests to determine what stage of CKD? Since it is pretty much a silent disease, it would be helpful to know more, so that you can take a more active part in preventing further decline. I know this was an early sign of my kidney disease, but I was not diagnosed until over a year later. I did not know that it was a sign of ckd, and would have appreciated knowing so that I could be more pro-active.

I am at late stage 4 / start of stage 5 CKD and I get very breathless especially if I drink to much in one go. So for example if I was to drink a pint of water or beer over a short period it would leave me wheezing and puffing. I am sorry to hear that you lost your husband.

Hi, I am stage 4 on the verge of stage 5 with PKD, I have shortness of breath all the time now. I also have a-fib, but seem to have shortness of breath even when that is not present. I have been experiencing this problem for about a year. My nephrologist will say it is my heart or try to blame it on other things, but I just know my body. I have had anxiety problems in the past and this is not anxiety. Take care, sorry for your loss.

When I get weak and short of breath it is usually due to anemia. I get injections for this which helps.

This could be caused by Plueral Effusion (water around a lung) This is very common with ckd .I have to be drained 3 times a week. I am surprised we have not seen more posting about it. I had shortness of breath - an Xray showed th water around one lung.

Drained? As in what, some kind of incision thro' which fluid can be let loose. Lovely!
