Hi No more excuses

Yes I have done the 8 week blood sugar diet with great success

Starting weight 81 kg

Weight at end of 8 weeks 69.4 kg

Blood sugar HBna down from 6.3 to 5.9

Cholesterol down from 6.9 to 6.2

Blood pressure down and one tablet dropped

Still losing weight and eating about 950 to 1100 cals

Current weight 65.6kg

I walked every day min 10000 steps and swam 30 mins

I continue on low carb and low GI no bread potatoes pasta sugar

It worked like magic for me

No hunger pangs or cravings

I highly recommend it

Wow that's great. Well done. I'm not diabetic but I'd like to conquer my sweet tooth, bring my bmi into the normal range and reduce my waistline. I saw someone on tv use this diet with great success and am considering doing so great to hear that it does work.

I've lost over a stone calorie counting but have been a bit static since summer and could do with a fresh focus to lose the final stone and a half.

Thanks for your reply.

You are welcome. I did it because I was pre diabetic and if I did not take urgent action would have become diabetic (type 2)

Yes, I did it last year in October and lost 13lbs in 7 weeks (I went on holiday for the 8th!)

I was very, very pleased with this as I don't have a lot to lose now. The aim is to lose 10% of your total body week in the 8 weeks.

Whats more, I was astonished how much better I felt - less pain, sleeping better, feeling more energetic....

As far as possible I have adopted the principles (no bread, pasta, rice, only eat berries, apples and pears, cutting down on processed foods and looking out for the sugar content in food...) and that seems to really make weight loss a lot easier!

Michael Moseley who did the Fast Diet has a book about it. It's 800 calories per day for 8 weeks. There's good results from it for reversing type 2 diabetes but it also helps reduce visceral fat. I don't know much about it but the book and website explain the science. Hope that helps.

Oh should say it's low carb and low sugar.

I am just reading the book, have to say it is an interesting and informative read. I worry about eating so few calories though as if I felt weak and very hungry I would give in to feel better!! Yet it doesn't seem to have affected people in that way ........ Will keep reading and decide when I have finished for now I will continue calorie counting.

Hi 87down I know what you mean about the calories. That's my worry too but maybe if I just think about it one day at a time it's doable. I've ordered the recipe book as I think forward planning might be key to this and plan to start in a weeks time once my visitors are gone. Then I've got 8 clearing weeks before Christmas to give this my best shot.
